MADISONVILLE-HOPKINS COUNTY CHAMBER PRESIDENT APPOINTED TO U.S. CHAMBER COMMITTEE

MADISONVILLE, Ky. – Lee S. Lingo, President of the Madisonville-Hopkins County Chamber of Commerce, has accepted an invitation to serve as a member of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Transportation, Infrastructure, and Logistics Committee for the 2014-2015 year.

The 140-member committee meets twice a year to formulate U.S. Chamber policy in transportation infrastructure, and also serves as a forum for networking and education about infrastructure issues. In the coming year, the committee’s work will focus on reauthorization of the federal aviation law and continue its work on water resources, marine transportation, and surface transportation, according to a letter from the U.S. Chamber.

“To have a representative from our state, and particularly Hopkins County, on this committee is a terrific opportunity,” Lingo said, “especially as our Chamber is heavily involved in the effort to get Interstate 69 completed and the shields up along the western Kentucky corridor.”

The Madisonville-Hopkins County Chamber of Commerce is a member of Chamber Leadership Initiatives in Northwest Kentucky, or C-LINK, a consortium of western Kentucky Chambers lobbying for the new Interstate and the economic growth that will come with it, and is also involved with BridgeLink, a coalition between Evansville, Ind., and Henderson, Ky., focused solely on efforts to complete a new Interstate-standard bridge spanning the two states.

Lingo is seeking input from Chamber representatives and businesses regarding the 2015 FAA reauthorization, the MAP-21 reauthorization policy, and the Water Resources Reform and Development Act of 2014.

“Before I attend the September 16 meeting in Washington, D.C., I want to know of and understand any issues my colleagues in businesses across the state might have about these acts and policies,” Lingo said. “I want to be an informed, active participant in the discussions and I want to an effective representative of our commonwealth.”

Lingo may be contacted at the Madisonville-Hopkins County Chamber of Commerce by e-mail at president@madisonville-hopkinschamber.com or by calling 270-821-3435.
